You can’t live in DC for eight years and not become at least a little bit of a political junkie. This Spring Break, I find myself back in DC geeking out, not because of the races, but because of that cool interface that CNN is using in conjunction with its political coverage.
See Jeffery Toobin demonstrate the technology to a curious fangirl.
CNN’s “Magic Wall” is actually a series of screens called Multi-Touch Collaboration Wall by Perceptive Pixel. All I have to say that if the web is driving anything, its the engagement of an audience with both style as well as substance.
As you can imagine from this blog, the Magic Wall is very cool since I spend a lot of time figuring out how to enhance typical business communication to be more persuasive. Looking at this kind of interface, originally designed for military intelligence, I can’t help but wonder how cool something like this would be in say, a Power Point presentation?
As we get more digital, audiences are going to want to be more involved in what they watch and CNN’s Magic Wall is a great example of that. If I had to put money on how new media and traditional media would begin to collide, audience-wise, I would say keep an eye on Perceptive Pixel.
